More than 317 kilograms of acorns, secretly stored by a woodpecker, were discovered inside the wall of a California home in the United States.
According to ABC News and other media outlets, pest control company owner Nick Castro recently made the astonishing discovery while responding to a homeowner’s complaint.
The homeowner had reported that a woodpecker had been making holes in various parts of the house’s exterior walls. When Nick arrived to investigate, he had no idea what was waiting behind the wall.
He made a small opening to check for pests, only to watch an enormous quantity of acorns begin pouring out. The nuts kept coming, eventually amounting to more than 317 kilograms.
To get a better look at what was hidden inside, Nick made a larger hole in the wall. What he uncovered was so extensive that the acorns eventually covered a substantial portion of the room’s floor.
Photographs from the scene showed piles of acorns spilling out of the wall, with some wedged between the insulation materials. The sheer quantity was enough to bury an adult man.
