A bizarre eating challenge took a tragic turn when a 42-year-old man in India reportedly collapsed after eating 42 boiled eggs during a bet with a friend. The incident, which occurred several years ago, has recently resurfaced online, drawing renewed attention to the potential dangers of extreme eating challenges.
According to the Vietnamese report, the man, identified as Subhash Yadav, was from Uttar Pradesh, India. He reportedly agreed to eat 50 boiled eggs in one sitting in exchange for a prize of 2,000 rupees, equivalent to approximately 650,000 Vietnamese dong.
The incident reportedly took place on November 3, 2019, at Bibiganj market in Jaunpur district.
That day, Yadav was sitting and eating with a friend when the two became involved in an argument. What began as a conversation eventually turned into an unusual challenge.
Yadav confidently declared that he could eat 50 boiled eggs in a single sitting. The two men then reportedly agreed to a bet worth 2,000 rupees.
They purchased 50 boiled eggs and began the challenge in front of several onlookers.
At first, everything appeared to be going according to plan. Yadav continued eating one egg after another, apparently showing no obvious signs of difficulty.

After eating his 42nd egg, Yadav reportedly collapsed and lost consciousness.
The people present immediately rushed to help him and took him to a nearby hospital.
Despite efforts to save him, the 42-year-old man did not survive.
